NoriNori

Nori can be recognized by its duskyjade or purple colour. The fronds are hollow tubes that flutter in the water some are like ruffled fans, while others are large & flat. Nori fibers are more tender than other sea plants. In Ireland, nori is called sloke; the Scottish call it laver.

Nori has the widest variety of the B vitamins, 1,2,6,& 12 as well as the highest level of vitamins A, C & E. It has the highest protein content of sea plants at 48% dry weight and is the most easily digested.

Health professionals recommend Nori for its healing properties. Increases yin fluids. A known diuretic, softens hardened body areas (such as nodules); transforms & resolves heat induced phlegm (yellow or green). Used as a treatment for painful & difficult urination, goiter, edema, high blood pressure, beriberi, fatty cysts under the skin. A good aid in digestion especially with fried foods.

Both Nori & Dulse fronds take on a pleasantly different flavour when heated in a skillet or micro wave oven until crisp and their colour changes. You can enjoy as is, or crumbling these toasted chips unto your morning cereal.

Nori & Dulse fronds can be eaten as a snack or they can be shredded with knife or Scissors and added to soups, salads, casseroles, stews, stir fries.

Also available in a flake & flour form for baked goods.
